There was period in the 70's and 80's where some in the adult movie industry had aspirations of being regarded as real filmmakers and produce works that were a step up from the sleazy porn loops that were just of two people fucking. They wanted to create a movie that had characters and a consistent narrative. Babyface is among the better movies of this era.
